Brown University Partnership:
This year’s event features a new collaboration with Brown University, which will present five graduate-level biotech venture teams in a rapid-fire elevator-pitch format. These student-led, pre-incorporated ventures, developed through Brown’s advanced biotechnology management program, represent investment-ready concepts supported by early technical validation and market analysis.
Team 1: Tanzanite Therapeutics
Presenter: Alissa Lui
Overview:
Tanzanite Therapeutics is developing a first-in-class oral therapy for GPT2 deficiency, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder with no approved treatments. The candidate restores mitochondrial energy metabolism and corrects the core metabolic defect caused by GPT2 loss. This approach offers hope for patients with severe neurological impairment with potential in broader neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s and ALS. IND-enabling studies are underway, with an IND filing targeted for 2026.
Team 2: NuroNova
Presenter: Saachi Gandhi
Overview:
NuroNova is developing CTX-101, a patented small molecule that targets beta-amyloid plaques and inhibits MAO to address both the root causes and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. This dual-action oral therapy aims to transform Alzheimer’s care by offering a safer, more accessible alternative to antibody treatments, with the potential to slow progression and enhance cognitive and emotional function.
Team 3: OncoTrack Technologies
Presenter: Siddarth Vinod Kumar
Overview:
OncoTrack Technologies commercializes the Informatics Radiomics Integration System (IRIS), a patented AI-driven platform developed at Johns Hopkins that integrates radiomics, histology, and genomic data to classify tumors, predict treatment response, and visualize disease progression in 2D/3D space through dynamic heatmaps. OncoTrack provides physicians a “virtual biopsy” that identifies tumor phenotype and therapy response before invasive procedures or expensive genomic testing.
Team 4: pHera Therapeutics
Presenter: Nidhi Pawar
Overview:
pHera is revolutionizing cancer treatment with an innovative pH-regulating hydrogel that delivers sustained, localized pH buffering at tumor sites. By neutralizing the acidic microenvironment—a root cause of treatment failure—this “smart reservoir” works to significantly reduce chemoresistance and decrease metastasis risk. pHera aims to fundamentally improve treatment efficacy and patient outcomes across multiple cancer types, all through a simple injection designed for seamless integration into existing clinical workflows.
Team 5: LumiNeura Imaging
Presenter: Nastassja Matus
Overview:
LumiNeura Imaging is revolutionizing neurological care by addressing the critical gap left by current brain monitoring systems, which are often low-specificity (fNIRS), immobile (CT/MRI), or overly invasive. LumiNeura’s solution is the MindHalo™, a mobile, high-resolution brain-imaging cap built on patented Brown University technology. By integrating advanced VCSEL lasers and SPAD detectors with coherent MIMO detection, the MindHalo™ provides unprecedented, high-resolution cortical sensitivity and, for the first time in a mobile device, absolute quantification of hemoglobin. This unique value proposition delivers a cost-effective, wearable solution for continuous, reliable monitoring in the ICU, OR, or at home, while simultaneously building a powerful data flywheel to enable future machine-learning-based decision support tools.
