The Third BIOINC Pitch Competition: From Local Momentum to Global Reach

MANSFIELD, MA - July 1, 2025-The Third BIOINC Pitch Competition, held on June 12, 2025, was more than a showcase—it was a moment of transformation for our growing life science ecosystem. What began as a regional pitch event has now evolved into a truly international platform for scientific innovation and entrepreneurial excellence.

This year, for the first time, we welcomed contestants based outside the U.S.—and they didn’t just participate. They took all the prizes.

First Place: H-BOX Therapies (Germany) Presented by Matthias Menne, Managing Director and Co-CEO

Second Place (tie): – NeoGap Therapeutics (Sweden), presented by Samuel Svensson, CEO – Neshima Medical (Israel), presented by Yan Ostrovski, CEO

So yes, it was a clean sweep for our international guests. American startups—watch out. The global field is not just competitive. It’s winning.

But the international presence wasn’t the only pattern that stood out. The BIOINC Mentoring Program, now in its second year, once again proved to be a launchpad for success. H-BOX, our first-place winner, is a recent graduate of the program—just as all three prize winners at the Second Pitch Competition were Mentoring alumni. It’s becoming a trend: if you want to stand out at BIOINC, start with the Mentoring Program.

We also ran our now-popular 1-Minute Elevator Pitch Challenge, featuring 11 companies from the European Innovation Center (EIC) Soft-Landing Program. Each startup had just 60 seconds to pitch in front of a live audience, emulating the classic scenario: you’re in an elevator with an investor—what do you say to earn the next meeting?

Audience Award Winner: Surgify (Finland) Presented by Visa Sippola, CEO Prize: One-year free basic business membership at BIOINC

What also made this pitch competition memorable is another competitor—but of a slightly different kind: three-time Super Bowl champion Joe Andruzzi. In his current capacity, Joe represents the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, which provides financial support to New England cancer patients.

If the First Mansfield Pitch Competition put BIOINC on the map, the Second established its legacy, then the Third expanded it to a truly global scale.

Where do we go from here? The Fourth BIOINC Pitch Competition, coming this fall, will show us. Stay tuned.
